Yarn from rare breeds |
Various weights The mill is able to offer yarns in varying weights from Fine to Bulky. Although most of our yarns are 2-ply, we are happy to provide singles, 3-ply and 4-ply yarns upon request. |
Choice of colours We offer products in a wide variety of natural and dyed colours. The mill custom dyes batches upon request and can often match samples provided by customer. Our gorgeous variegated yarns are quite popular as are our natural coloured tweed yarns. |
 Gulf Islands Blend A blend unique to our mill, the Gulf Islands Blend is made from local alpaca, mohair & wool. It incorporates the best qualities of all 3 fibres; the softness of alpaca, the strength and luster of mohair and the memory and loft of wool. Its handspun appearance and soft hand make it a popular choice among knitters. |

100% mohair A gorgeous yarn with lots of luster that is both warm and durable. Attractive in its natural state, it is spectacular as a dyed yarn. As exotic fibres do not have ‘memory’, we recommend this yarn not be used for fitted garments or items that need to retain their shape. |
 Mohair/wool blends Our most popular mohair/wool blend is our 50:50 blend which is made using local mohair and Border Leicester wool. It is lustrous, warm, durable and soft. The wool provides ‘memory’ making the blends appropriate for fitted or shaped garments. Blends of other compositions available upon request. |
'Softspun' a single, bulky yarn with a handspun feel A single, bulky yarn, similar to Lopi, softspun is made using long fibres. Traditionally made from 100% wool, we are also able to spin wool/mohair blends upon request. |
Available in either wool or wool blends, our felts measure approximately 24’ x 48’. They can be used for sewing, crafts, and pet bedding among other things. We offer a selection of natural colours and colour blends. |
Felts- wool blends|
The mill offers quality alpaca and wool duvets in standard sizes crib through king. We also make custom sized duvets for hard to fit mattresses. Our duvets are enclosed in 100% cotton ticking and are sewn using a unique stitch pattern that prevents excessive compaction of the fibre inside. As each duvet is made to your specifications, there will be a short delay between receipt of your order and the shipping of your finished duvet. |
Batts Our batts measure approximately 18 inches by 48 inches and weigh from half a pound to one pound, depending on their intended use. We can make batts from any of the major animal fibres in a wide variety of natural colours. |
Duvets
Handspinners rovings Our Rovings are available in a wide variety of fibre compostions and natural and dyed colours. Our Gulf Islands Blend and 50:50 Mohair Wool Blend are popular among spinners. Drafted rovings are also available. |
'Art felts' Art felts are felts made for decorative purposes such as wall hangings. Custom made upon request, our art felts incorporate the customer’s colour and design ideas. Art felts can be made from 100% wool or exotic blends. |
